NBC Sports: Bipartisan effort begins to repeal gambling portion of big, beautiful bill

Buried in the 900-plus-page piece of legislation was a provision that makes it much harder to gamble for a living by limiting deductions to 90 percent, not 100 percent, of losses. Three days after President Trump signed the bill into law, a trio of legislators from both sides of the aisle are backing a bill that would repeal the gambling portion of the big, beautiful bill.

Legal Sports Report: Michigan Online Casino Regulator Takes Most Sweeping Action Yet

One of the most active online casino regulators just made its most aggressive crackdown yet. The Michigan Gaming Control Board announced “its most sweeping enforcement action” last week. It sent 19 cease-and-desist letters to illegal online casino and sports betting companies. The sites have 14 days to cease operation before the regulator pursues further legal action.


Play NJ: Prohibition on NJ Universities Partnering with Sportsbooks Signed into Law

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed a bill into law on Tuesday that prohibits sportsbook operators from partnering with universities within the state. SBC Americas: Maine online casino bill lies stagnant after governor’s inaction

There will be no answer until January 2026 to the question of whether or not Maine’s approved bill to legalize online casino will become law. Maine lawmakers sent more than 100 bills to Mills’ desk on the very last day of the session in late June, and she had until July 7 to either sign or reject them. On July 8, her office listed almost 60 that she is delaying.
