Illinois

  • Legal Sports Report: Illinois Sports Betting Tax Hike Passes State Legislature
    • Gov. JB Pritzker got his wish Wednesday morning asina budget bill more than doubling the Illinois sports betting tax passing the legislature. The Illinois House passed HB 4951, the state’s $53.1 billion budget, on its third try just before 5 am CT, sending it to Pritzker. The bill includes $1.1 billion in new revenues, including a tiered Illinois sports betting tax hike that raises rates based on total revenue collected.
  • PlayIllinois: Legislative Session Ends Without Movement On iGaming
    • Two bills that would have legalized online casinos in Illinois stalled in committee as the state legislative session concluded last week. In the end, consensus could not be formed to push either bill to a vote. House Bill 2239, introduced by State Rep. Edgar Gonzalez Jr., and Senate Bill 1565, sponsored by State Sen. Cristina Castro, failed to escape the committee process and come to a debate and vote on Friday in Springfield. The Subcommittee on Gaming, Wagering, and Racing in the Illinois State Senate and the Gaming Committee in the Illinois State House effectively shelved both proposals.

    • Fanatics Betting and Gaming announced on Wednesday that Fanatics Sportsbook is now available in Wyoming. This marks the 21st state that Fanatics has launched in, and the fifth online sportsbook available in the Wyoming sports betting market. Wyoming becomes the second state to open up Fanatics Sportsbook in May following the recent New Jersey takeover. According to the press release, Fanatics Sportsbook is now available in 95% of the legal sports betting market across the United States.
