  • More than half of the United States now offers legal sports betting, just three years after it was allowed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

  • Looks like the old “tastes great, less filling” arguments of yore are going to be joined by “straight bets, more teasers” discussions during NFL broadcasts this season as the NFL — after decades of railing against the notion of legalized sports betting — is now welcoming seven different sportsbooks to its commercial airwaves. 

Maryland: 

• FOX 5, 9.7.21: Sports Betting Delayed In Maryland As Regulators Work To Develop Rules 
  • More than 45 million Americans plan to bet on the 2021 NFL season, according to research released Tuesday by the American Gaming Association (AGA). This is a 36 percent rise compared to last year. 

Oregon:  

• IGB, 9.8.21: Oregon Sports Betting Revenue Falls In August 
  • Oregon’s SBTech-powered betting app Scoreboard brought in a revenue of $1.0m in August, a month-on-month decrease of 51.0% and down 42.1% year-on-year. 

Tennessee: 

• TN Bets, 9.7.21: Tennessee Seeks Sportsbook Operator Feedback On New Draft Rules 
  • The Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Council has published current drafts of rules for sports betting that the group plans to put into effect later this year. A change to the 2019 Sports Gaming Act was recently enacted to shift regulatory duties from the Tennessee Lottery to the SWAC. 

Wisconsin:

  • A casino four miles from the Green Bay Packers’ Lambeau Field aims to offer Wisconsin sports betting this NFL season. 

Florida: 

• CBS 12, 9.7.21: Sports Betting Starts Next Month In Florida 
  • Legalized sports betting is scheduled to start next month in Florida.  

Arizona: 

• Action Network, 9.7.21: Arizona Sports Betting Clears Legal Challenge; Sept. 9 Launch on Schedule 
  • Legal Arizona sportsbooks are still set to launch Thursday.
