Activity in Both the House and Senate in Missouri this Week
There was House and Senate activity this week in Missouri. They recessed for “Spring Break” and will return to work the week of March 21st.
On Tuesday, the House Rules Committee passed HB2502/2556 by a vote of 13-1. iDEA testified the week previous in support of these bills.
Next Steps: Full House debate/vote on the floor likely in two to three weeks—according to the House Majority Floor Leader.
The Senate Appropriations committee met yesterday to hear testimony on several gaming bills including allowance of a VLT program in Missouri and Sports Wagering. iDEA’s testimony is here. One general takeaway was the need to keep the two bills separate as they move through the process. It was very clear that Senator Hoskins is feeling left out of the broader stakeholder discussions on Sports Wagering. Many supporters of the legislation attempted to give him praise for his years of work on these issues but were actively in favor of the two other bills (SB 1046 and SB 1061) introduced by Senator(s) Hegeman and Luetkemeyer.
Not confirmed, but the Senate Appropriations Committee is likely to vote on these measures on March 23rd.
