IN: Doubts on Ability of iGaming Bill to Advance

January 28, 2022

The iGaming bill filed in the House did not get a hearing before a critical deadline, casting serious doubts on the ability of the bill to advance this session.

Opposition to the bill does not appear to be on policy, but Senate president Bray continues to express concern (privately) that there are potential gaming industry related indictments expected, and he does not want to put lawmakers in a position to be supporting gaming issues.

Even though the bill did not pass out of the House, our team is strategizing on how to keep it alive should the Senate pass any gaming related legislation. If they do, we would hope to add the iGaming bill into it, when it comes over from the Senate. This should be considered a low probability opportunity, but one we will pursue.

iDEA Growth and Casino Association of Indiana released the iGaming study. The media team has placed several trade news stories and we have an op-ed pending with a major local paper.
