Indiana’s Budget Shortfall Puts Gaming Expansion and Tax Increases Back in Play

This week the state revealed that it will have an unexpected $2B budget shortfall.
Lawmakers are now scrambling to find new revenues or cuts to help fill the gap, with some saying that “gaming is on the table.”
This has opened the door for reigniting conversations about iGaming, but it also means lawmakers could look to increase existing gaming taxes such as raising the sports betting tax to 20%, which was proposed earlier this session.
