Louisiana Governor’s Veto of Sweepstakes Prohibition Keeps the Door Open for iGaming Discussions

The Louisiana legislature adjourned with no discussion of iGaming legislation. Instead the legislature focused attention on “sweepstakes” and passed a bill that would prohibit it. However, that bill was vetoed by the Governor, which could open the door to future discussions on iGaming.
iDEA will be working over the summer and fall with industry and lawmakers to continue to educate on iGaming.
We will also be monitoring any actions related to online sweepstakes as it is expected that the state will initiate some enforcement actions in this area.
