Maryland iGaming Bill Heads to Key House Hearing as Education Funding Discussions Intensify

House Ways and Means will hold a hearing on iGaming bill 02/10. iDEA will be testifying in support, but with amendments.
The chair of the committee is the sponsor of the bill, but we still anticipate several opponents to testify as well. There will not be a vote on the bill.
On 02/03, we spoke with the head of the leading teachers union in MD. We educated them on the revenue opportunity from iGaming and how it could help save the education budget which is facing major shortfalls. They can be an influential ally as the budget negotiations continue.
