MD Governor Demands Expedition of Mobile Sports Wagering Licensing
The SWARC meets tomorrow, but looking at the agenda, there does not appear to be much substance to the meeting. We will watch a report back. More interesting is a letter sent by Gov. Larry Hogan to the SWARC demanding that they expedite mobile sports wagering licensing.
There has been longstanding tension between the Gov’ office and the SWARC, and also between the Gov and the AG’s office. The AG’s office has been the agency pushing for the diversity study (which is still underway) and they have also continually raised concerns that if MD sports betting industry does not have appropriate minority inclusion it will be subject to litigation.
Nevertheless, the Gov’s letter is worth the read as he calls for some specific actions to be taken to expedite the process.
