MEETING HIGHLIGHTS: Mass Gaming Commission Nov 10

Here are the highlights from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission meeting on Thursday, November 10.
The Commission:
- Approved the “Sports Wagering Operator Licensing Framework” set of regulations discussed at a previous Commission meeting.
- Discussed other sports wagering-related regulations, including ones that deal with:
- Voluntary self-exclusion (approved by Commission)
- Preventing underage sports betting (potential vote at next meeting)
- Occupational licenses for sports wagering (potential vote at next meeting)
- Voted to accept Category 2 licenses on a rolling basis. The application deadline hasn’t changed for the other categories.
On vendors, the Commission has begun working with the various operator applicants to identify their sports wagering-related vendors as a starting point for the official intake of vendor materials. A couple other notes on vendors:
- Currently there is no due date for vendor applications
- Third-party marketing affiliates are included in the vendor category
On Monday, November 14 at 10am, the Commission will hold a round table discussion on sports wagering advertising and media (Meeting Notice and Agenda here). The purpose of the meeting is to help the Commission understand the mechanics of sports wagering advertising in the national, regional and local media markets.
