Minnesota Senate Finance Committee Passes HF778

A week after the House passed its version of sports betting legislation the Senate held their first hearing/vote on their own bill.The Minnesota Senate Finance Committee adopted the Senate author’s amendment, which is the amendment that the tribes are opposed to. Then after much debate, the Committee passed HF 778, as amended, by a vote of 5-4, sending it to the Senate floor.
It is Hail Mary time in Minnesota. We have been speaking with some legislative staffers who are close to the situation and they aren’t overly optimistic that a deal can be reached before the end of session.
