Missouri Bills Introduced

January 21, 2022

A House and Senate bill have been introduced that represent a compromise agreement between the state’s casino industry and the sports teams.

The bills, SB 1046 (House bill not yet assigned) allow casinos property to have up to 3 individual online brands (skins), however, it caps any casino ownership group to 6 brands. Sports teams would have access to a single statewide online license (for a total of 6). In all, there could be up to 38 available online brands.

Bills have a 10% tax rate; $100k fee for mobile license; Tier 2 official league data mandate.

There is a concerted effort to separate sports betting from the VGT/VLT issue, in part in response to an initiative filed by the professional sports franchises in Missouri, to put one of several sports betting questions on the ballot for the 2022 elections.
