Missouri Sports Teams and Mobile Operators Push for Ballot Initiative

Missouri sports teams and some mobile operators have announced they will push for a ballot initiative that would bypass the legislature and take the question about sports betting directly to the voters (link to the petition language).
On January 19, government officials announced concerns with the proposed initiative as it does not enumerate how taxes would be collected/distributed, therefore they cannot estimate tax revenue.
Land-based casino operators have not endorsed the ballot effort yet and may have concerns that this would expand gaming to other entities (i.e., sports teams), where they currently have exclusivity.
To be eligible for the ballot, 171,000 signatures must be collected by May 5, 2024.
