Missouri Sports Wagering Bill: Second Hearing in Senate on 4/6/22

April 5, 2022

The Missouri House has already passed HB2502 a bill to authorize sports wagering. The bill is scheduled to receive it’s 2nd hearing in the Senate on Wednesday, 4/6 at 8:15 am CT.

The Committee chairman is a supporter/sponsor of the bill. If voted on, it should receive favorable passage.

There are still attempts to include the VLT (slot machines at non-casino locations) with sports betting, or a limited pilot program for VLTs. We are told that the Missouri casino industry is 100% against any VLT authorization and will (at this time) not accept any compromise on the matter.

Our local lobbyist is working to try and keep sports completely separate from the VLT bill, so that sports betting can move forward. The legislature adjourns in mid-May, so there is approx. 6 weeks to get a deal across the Senate.
