MN: Efforts Towards Horseracing Prohibition Complicate Sports Betting Negotiation

On Wednesday, April 3, the House Commerce Finance and Policy Committee held a hearing on HF 2000.
In light of the recent decision by the Minnesota Racing Commission to approve historical horse racing at the state’s tracks, a lot of this informational-only hearing centered on the prohibition of historical horse racing that is in the bill. Although this prohibition continues to receive pushback, the bill’s sponsor has remained firm on this prohibition. The historical horse racing issue has the potential to further complicate the online sports betting negotiations.
