MN Sports Bill Referred to House Judiciary Comittee

The House bill introduced recently was reported out of the House State Finance and Government Elections Committee and was referred to the House Judiciary Committee. Read bill here.

The bill sponsor announced plans to amend the bill to increase the age to legally place a bet from 18 (which is what it currently is in the bill) to 21.

The Minnesota Indian Gaming Association gave its tentative approval of the bill. However, they also said that they would continue to monitor the bill for any changes.

iDEA is evaluating the opportunity to testify at a future hearing.

Also, providing information to Senate/House leaders about the need for more competition in the marketplace.

The state is a difficult entry point for outsiders since gambling is wholly controlled by the state’s Indian tribes, who have exclusive right to gambling in the state.
