New York Budget Negotiations Could Affect Future Amendments on Gaming

State lawmakers in New York are in the midst of budget negotiations. The budget was due last Friday, but as of this update, there is still no deal in Albany between the legislature and the Governor.
The major gaming issue on the table is the issuance of up to three down-state casino licenses. While this is not a specific issue for iDEA, we are watching it because it could impact how the legislature/governor deal with amending the sports betting law and/or iGaming during next session.
It would be preferable that the budget authorize the downstate licenses, so that major gaming issue is removed from future debate.
