Kansas Sports Betting Bill Signed into Law

June 24, 2022

A copy of the final bill, which was signed into law on 5/12, can be found here. Companies seeking to operate in the state (including suppliers) should have received a notice and questionnaire from the KGRC to be returned before the end of the month. If you have not received, please contact John Pappas for information.

While regulators would like to achieve a retail/mobile launch by the beginning of football season, they are cautioning that much work need to be done and are already suggesting that it would happen in the fall, rather than the start of NFL season.

State regulators (both the state lottery and state gaming commission) are working jointly to quickly finalize regulations so that operations for both online and retail can start by football season. This week casinos began contacting their suppliers and have asked them to fill out questionnaires so the licensing levels can be determined.

iDEA is reaching out to the state Lottery and the Racing and Gaming Commission who will have joint oversight over the rulemaking process and the regulation of sports wagering.
