Nebraska’s Mobile Sports Wagering Amendment Blocked by Filibuster, Withdrawn for Session
April 25, 2025
On Tuesday, the constitutional amendment to authorize mobile sports wagering was brought to the floor for debate but was met with a filibuster from opponents.
As a result, the bill’s sponsor withdrew it from consideration, effectively ending its chances for passage this session. However, the bill remains technically alive and could be revisited by the legislature next year. Another potential path forward would be to bypass the legislature altogether and pursue a citizen-initiated ballot measure via signature collection. While this approach carries significant costs, it may offer a more direct route to getting mobile sports wagering before voters in 2026.
