Ohio: The Latest on Senator Manning’s Omnibus Gaming Bill
Earlier this week we shared info and a summary on an omnibus gaming modernization bill = SB 197 – introduced by Senator Nathan Manning. The bill seeks to update the sports wagering law (in some areas) and includes iGaming and iLottery. The first hearing (bill sponsor only testimony) took place on May 14. You can view that hearing here.
For reference, an analysis of the bill by the Ohio Legislative Service Committee is available here.
There are some areas of concern in the bill, including tax rates, fee’s and limited market access (11 total licenses). Lawmakers are looking to address budget needs, and some are pushing that this get considered in the upcoming budget.
While this could get support in the legislature, the Governor has indicated that he would oppose iGaming. Jack Casino will be a strong opponent.
