GA House Champion For Sports Betting Retires; Committee Pushes Forward on Gambling Expansion

In Georgia, the House champion for sports betting, Marcus Wiedower, announced that he is retiring from office effective immediately. You can read more on his announcement here.
We expect that a new lawmaker will step up to take a leadership role on sports betting legislation. Despite this set-back, the Gaming Study Committee is still working on their report to help inform lawmakers on gambling expansion policy in the state. We expect that report will be available before December. iDEA is engaging with stakeholders and sharing perspectives about sports wagering legalization.
