Georgia House Holds First Hearing on Sports Betting Bill

This week the House held its first hearing on the bill. They will meet again next week and expect amendments to strengthen RG provisions and increase the tax rate from 20 to 25%.
There is also an effort to add DFS regulatory language to the bill which will increase the revenues, however it is not known if adding regulatory language will secure the additional votes needed in the House. Right now, we don’t believe there are sufficient votes to support the bill, but new amendments could help.
The House still must act on both the enabling legislation and the constitutional amendment (CA). There are only 2 weeks left in the session.
