iDEA Meeting with Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC)
The Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) has begun drafting regulations and issued the first batch related to provisional licensing, independent testing laboratories, and integrity monitoring providers. On 1/4/22, iDEA held a meeting between members and the OCCC.
During our member meeting, the OCCC outlined a timeline of several months to complete the rulemaking process and have license applications available by late Summer/early Fall.
They also believe it will be a challenge to have a launch date much before the end of 2022, given the requirements of the law to “universally” launch Type A, B & C licensees.
iDEA has been invited to offer recommendations on all areas of the rules.
iDEA continues to engage with the Ohio Casino Control Commission during the regulatory process and is also evaluating what legislative “fixes” to pursue in 2022.
We are preparing information for the OCCC to consider when preparing their rule to determine “incremental economic benefit” for granting a 2nd skin and also on how they could treat reciprocal licensing.
Key Dates
- 6 to 8 months: regulatory approval and licensing approval process
- Q4 2022: best estimation of a “launch” timeframe.
