iDEA Proposed Amendments to Ohio Legislation

June 6, 2025

On June 3, the House Finance Committee held a hearing on HB 298 (bill details can be accessed here | hearing video here). The Senate budget plan was released and it did not include iGaming. We understand that House and Senate lawmakers are discussing how it could be included in the budget in the coming weeks.

The Governor has made some public comments about the potential for addiction if iGaming is legalized, but stopped short of opposing it altogether.

We are actively engaged with lawmakers and other stakeholders in Ohio through our lobbyist and other strong connections to the state.

iDEA submitted our recommended alternative proposal, focused on tax rates, license fees and market access on May 30, per a request from House/Senate lawmakers, which can be viewed here.

The study we have commissioned from Eilers & Krejcik – an analysis we can use to inform lawmakers about optimal rates/fees/skins, should be delivered the week of June 9.
