iDEA Sends Letter to IL Lawmakers re: In-Person Registration and Supplier Language
iDEA sent a letter to Illinois Representative Robert Rita and Senator Bill Cunningham regarding potential issues with the state’s Sports Wagering Act. The letter can be accessed here.
The IL legislature will meet next week for its “veto session,” and there is a chance the Senate and House agree to push an omni-bus gaming bill (please note that iGaming will not be considered). John Pappas and our local lobbyist on the ground in IL have had good conversations with Senate and House leaders about our proposed supplier license fix, and if a bill moves, we believe our language (or a version of it) will be included.
In-person registration is a far more controversial issue, with strong opponents. Nevertheless, we know this is an important issue to our members and to the health of the Illinois market; thus, our letter asks for a certain expiration date for the in-person registration requirement. We think it’s good that we’re on record on the IPR issue, and also the supplier fix language. We will keep you updated on further developments in Illinois.
