iGaming Bills Take Shape in Virginia Legislature; iDEA Secures Local Lobbyist
Virginia lawmakers are preparing iGaming bills for consideration during next session. Sponsors and co-sponsors are being lined up.
In the House and Senate, we expect these bills to be introduced prior to the start of session, which formally begins Jan 14. While the legislative leaders are generally supportive of this, there is much work to be done to neutralize the opposition of Cordish/Churchill and the faith-based groups.
iDEA has engaged a local lobbyist who is helping us connect with local lawmakers so we can be a resource and have seat at the table for iGaming discussions this session. Our lobbyist is already connecting with stakeholders and working with lawmakers to secure support/sponsors for the iGaming bills. We will be going to Richmond soon to begin meeting with lawmakers.
