Iowa: HSB604 Receives Hearing and Registered Groups Voice Positions on the Bill

State Rep. Kaufmann’s iGaming bill, HSB604, received a hearing and a favorable vote in subcommittee on February 2. Groups registered with lobbyists in Iowa were able to voice their position on the bill.
iDEA has spoken with Rep Kaufmann, and while he is enthusiastic about the bill, he is not optimistic it will move beyond a discussion phase in 2022.
While many of the state’s land-based casinos support iGaming, some are opposed and the state casino association will only advocate for policies where they have member unanimity.
iDEA has also spoken with other key members of the legislature and are engaging with key land-based stakeholder to discuss strategies to advance the legislative discussion this year.
