Kansas Lawmakers Add Budget Language Preventing Sports Betting Contract Renewals

A provision was included in the Kansas budget which could impact the future of sports wagering in the state.
Bill language says that the Lottery cannot expend any resources to negotiate or renew contracts for the management of sports wagering with any lottery facility for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. The effect of the bill is that any licensed operator today, who has a contract that is set to expire in the next two years will not be able to renew their contract with the lottery to continue offering sports wagering.
