Maryland AG Blocks Lottery’s Attempt to Eliminate Sports Wagering Promotional Deductions

The MD Lottery last year proposed a new rule that would eliminate promotional deductions for sports wagering.
This was done as a way to generate more revenues from gaming to address state budget deficits.
The state AG has weighed in to say that this rule would violate the sports wagering statute and exceed the Lottery’s authority.
