Maryland iGaming Bill Amendments: Market Access, Tax Rates, and More

March 8, 2024

Chairwoman Atterbeary and House leaders are in the process of crafting amendments to HB 1319. Changes to market access, tax rates and DEI provisions are the likely issues to be addressed.

Discussions are trending toward licenses and multiple skins (up to 3) tethered to the 6 land-based casinos and a limited number of independent licenses for other entities.  The current tax rate is 55% and 20% for live dealer games, however, leadership has not shown an interest in significantly reducing the tax rate. We understand that the Chair would like to finalize the changes soon, so that her committee can vote on the bill the week of March 11th.
