Massachusetts Gaming Commission Meeting Recap
*The scoping survey must be submitted as part of the application for a Category 1, 2, or 3 Sports Wagering License and must be submitted as a prerequisite to the submission of additional application forms. Failure to submit this survey by October 17, 2022 by 5pm shall result in the Commission deeming the application incomplete and administratively closed.
*It was also announced that vendors will eventually be required to fill this scoping survey out, but they aren’t subject to this same submission deadline.
*The Sports Wagering Operator License Application has been released. The Commission is still taking public comment on the application until 5pm on October 17, 2022. It was noted today that, to date, the Commission hasn’t received any public comments on the application.
*It was announced that the Commission has entered into a contract with RSM to help provide consulting services to assist with the background reviews. The Commission has also entered into a contract with Gaming Laboratories International to help with sports betting implementation.
*The Commission approved the Daily Fantasy Registration and Tax Filing forms. These forms should be posted on the Commission’s website shortly.
*There was also a discussion on the licensing evaluation process. The potential scoring criteria that the Commission discussed using to help evaluate applicants are: (a) The applicant’s experience and expertise related to sports wagering; (b) The economic impact and other benefits to the Commonwealth if the applicant is awarded a license; (c) The applicant’s proposed measures related to responsible gaming; (d) A description of the applicant’s willingness to foster racial, ethnic, and gender diversity, equity, and inclusion within their workforce; (e) The technology that the applicant intends to use in its operation; (f) The suitability of the applicant and its qualifiers; and (g) Any other appropriate factor per the Commission’s discretion.
