MD Proposes Changes to iGaming Operator Regulations with HB 29 and HB 46
February 6, 2026
In Maryland, HB 29 and HB 46 proposes regulation changes for operators.
A hearing on HB 29 took place on Feb 5. The Lottery/Gaming Commission is supporting the bill, which would give them broad authority to limit promotional deductions.
HB 46 would create a pilot program, requiring operators to geofence certain areas of select college campuses. This is being proposed to evaluate if it can prevent underage gambling and problem gambling on college campuses. This bill was subject to a hearing earlier this year, but was then removed from the hearing calendar and has not been rescheduled.
The session adjourns April 13. iDEA is engaging with lawmakers on these proposals.
