MD SWARC Postpones October 14 Meeting (updated 10/15)
While there is no public announcement as to why tomorrow’s meeting has been postponed, we understand that there are significant concerns regarding a request from the AG’s office that a new disparity study be conducted. Link to schedule here.
Also there is some concern as to whether they can grant the named Class A/B licenses without giving consideration to the mobile and other Class B licenses where minorities could get preference.
We understand there is ongoing policy discussions between the SWARC, MD Lottery and the State AGs office about what type of preferential treatment can be given. The head of the MD Lottery still believes that retail can launch before the end of the year.
This is adding additional delays to an already slow-moving process.
