MD SWARC Update
This morning the MD SWARC held a meeting on progress on licensing and regulations. The most notable item was a decision by the SWARC and the MD Lottery to approve license applications on a “rolling basis” and not impose a universal start date. This would mean a staggered launch, where operators who are first approved will be first to launch.
As you already know, the SWARC applications are due by October 21. Also, within 14 days of a company submitting their SWARC application they must also complete their Maryland Lottery application through their eLicensing system. So if a SWARC application if filed on Oct 10, that company must complete their MD Lottery application by Oct 24.
During the meeting, reps from the MD Lottery said they intend to make the current emergency regulations final by late October. They are currently evaluating the comments submitted on the SWARC rules and will make recommendations at special meeting the first or second week of October.
A recording of the video is available at this here. We encourage you to view the 30 minute meeting for additional information.
