Michigan Eyes Sports Betting and iGaming Tax Adjustments; Committee Hearing Expected
December 6, 2024
Two bills were introduced during the Michigan lame duck session that increases the tax rate for both sports betting and iGaming.
They are Senate Bills 1193 and 1194 and have been referred to the Senate Committee on Government Operations. These bills could be subject to a hearing next week and iDEA is readying information to share with lawmakers. The bills, as introduced, only have very small tax increases (1%), however, these are to be considered placeholders for further negotiations on a new tax rate.
Our team is actively working on this matter in the state Captiol and will continue to provide updates.
