Minnesota Bill FH778 Amended
Earlier today, the Minnesota bill (HF 778) was amended and moved out of the Minnesota House Judiciary, Finance and Civil Law Committee by a vote of 9-6. It now moves onto the House Committee on Taxes.
Here is a link to the amended version of the bill. In this amended version, the legal age to place a wager is now 21. In the previous version of the bill, the legal age to place a bet was 18.
The bill is now going to the House Taxes committee (the 4th of 6 committees it must clear) as soon as next week.
The Senate leader on sports betting has raised concerns with the House approach. Should bills clear the House and Senate, it is likely that most of the compromise will occur during a conference committee.

The state is a difficult entry point for outsiders since gambling is wholly controlled by the state’s Indian tribes, who have exclusive right to gambling in the state.
