Minnesota Lawmakers Make Changes to SF 2374 (omnibus tax bill)
Earlier this week, the Senate Tax Committee made further changes to SF 2374 (the omnibus tax bill), prior to advancing the bill. One of the changes made includes removing the section that called for a study on sports betting
While the final version of the omnibus tax bill will be negotiated in a conference committee, it is highly unlikely the study makes it back into the final bill. (The current House version of the omnibus tax bill doesn’t include the study section.)
Time is running short on session in Minnesota as the Legislature is currently scheduled to adjourn on 05/19/25. In the last few days of the legislation session, most of the focus will be on passing the various budget bills and not on policy bills, including the sports betting bills.
It is looking like a special legislative session will be called in Minnesota. If a special session is called, however, the main focus of it will be finalizing the budget bills.
