Mississippi: Mobile Sports Betting Not Likely to Pass in 2022

Despite several bills being introduced this session to allow for state-wide mobile sports betting, none of them passed a critical deadline on February 1 to be voted out of Committee. This means that in all likelihood, mobile sports betting will not pass in 2022.
Recently, the chair of the Gaming Committee, Rep. Eure expressed his frustration on the lack of industry unity on this issue, and he pointed to this division as the reason the bills did not advance.
iDEA will continue to engage with lawmakers to discuss the benefits of mobile betting and to also discourage efforts to require in-person registration in the future.
The legislature adjourns on April 30, 2022.
