Mississippi Sports Betting Faces Critical Week as Senate Committee Deadline Approaches

In what was a strategic shot at the Senate and the Mississippi casino operators that don’t support online sports betting, a House bill saw action this week that would increase taxes on Mississippi casinos.
While this bill didn’t make it out of the House, this bill helps show the stalemate between the House and the Senate on passing an online sports betting bill.
Time is running short for the Senate Gaming Committee to act on HB 1302 (Rep. Eure’s sports betting bill). The deadline for committees to report general bills originating in the opposite chamber is March 4.
