MO Sports Betting Legislation Not Expected to Pass this Session
The Missouri legislature will conclude its legislative session for the year on 05/13 and it is not expected that sports betting legislation will pass.
Several attempts for compromise bills were offered, but ultimately rejected by various stakeholders. The compromises were not great for OSB and included annual licensing fees up to $1m.
Unfortunately, as in years past, sports betting has gotten wrapped up in the larger fight over VLT (slot machine) legalization despite assurances from key lawmakers that they would keep the issues separated.
iDEA was active over the past two weeks to facilitate compromises that could garner the support of all stakeholders.
We are continuing to gather intel on the post mortem which we will plan to report during the 05/17 member call.
