NC House Finance Committee Hearing Wraps

There were two amendments to SB 38. One amendment clarifies who the sports governing body is for E-sports. The other amendment requires that some funding from the sports wagering revenue that is generated is distributed to the athletic departments of North Carolina’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCU’s). SB 38 passed by a vote of 14-2.
There were no amendments made or even offered to SB 688. SB 688 passed by a vote of 13-3.
The bills now move onto the House Committee on Rules, Calendar and Operations. The Committee meets this afternoon at 2:30. It is expected that the bills will be added to the committee’s agenda and will have a hearing this afternoon.
