New Maryland Bill Invites Discussion on iGaming as a Revenue Driver

January 17, 2025

Senator Watson has introduced SB340 an iGaming bill that is identical to the legislation earlier by Del. Atterbeary.

The bill has been referred to the Budget and Tax Committee and will be part of a hearing scheduled for January 29th.

The Governor in his FY26 budget has proposed to increase the sports betting tax rate from 15% to 30% as well as increasing the retail table game tax rate.

With the state facing a massive budget shortfall, the Governor is looking to the gaming industry to close the gap. This opens the door for broader discussions about iGaming as a revenue driver. See full update on the Member Portal.
