Notes From MA Gaming Commission Meeting Held 9/15
September 16, 2022
- It was noted that the Commission had a robust response for the “Notice of Intent” for the Category 3 licenses and competition for these licenses will be high.
- There was a lengthy conversation about temporary licenses. Most of the conversation on this topic centered on the fact that the temporary licensure rules could potentially allow many sports betting operators to be granted a temporary license and become operational and then have to be shut down/cease operations within a year if they aren’t awarded one of the permanent licenses.
- The Commission has scheduled an in-person public roundtable meeting with mobile/digital operators for September 22nd. The meeting will take place at the Gardner Auditorium at the Massachusetts State House. More meeting details will be forthcoming. The Commission will be seeking information on temporary licenses and simultaneous v. staggered launch. A potential timeline framework could be discussed during this meeting as well.
