NY Legislature and Governor Reach Budget Deal

A vote is expected on 04/08. The authorization of 3 downstate casinos is included in the bill, but other gaming issues such as OSB expansion and tax rate reduction did not have support to be included.
Lawmakers are not willing to adjust the OSB market so soon after launch.
Senator Addabbo has expressed an interest in advancing iGaming and OSB bills after the budget, but any effort would be about building support for 2023, rather than enacting law in 2022.
A meeting has been scheduled with the Casino Association of Indiana (CAI) for 04/12 to begin discussion on legislative strategy for the interim and for the 2023 legislative session. We connected casino representatives this week, who reaffirmed their major support for legalization of igaming.
