Oklahoma Begins Session with Competing Sports Betting Bills

February 9, 2024

The legislative session kicked off in Oklahoma this week with competing sports betting bills, including Senate Bill 1434, sponsored by Senator Murdock.

This bill closely aligns with the proposal that Governor Stitt previously announced. A fact sheet on the Governor’s proposal can be read here.

There is also a House bill (HB 1027) that passed the House last session but stalled in the Senate. It carries over to this session. Previously, sports betting hasn’t been a priority in the Senate. Any legislation that passes will have to have the state’s tribes on board.
