Ontario Expected to Release Final Terms and Conditions Soon
The IGO is expected to release its final terms and conditions on December 13. They are projecting that “top-tier” operators will be able to be licensed and commence operators within 90 days of submitting applications, meaning a market launch in mid-to-late March for some operators. There is speculation that this will slip.
The Ontario Auditor General has raised questions about whether the licensing framework proposed in Ontario is consistent with the provision in Canada’s national criminal code requiring that all gambling be conducted and managed by provincial lotteries, creating further uncertainty about the market.
