Update from Vermont

On Nov. 22, the Committee conducted its final hearing and announced that it will recommend that the state use competitive bidding, that 2-6 operators should be chosen, and that the tax rates should be determined through competitive bidding with a floor of 20% (i.e., no bids less than 20%).
The Committee intends to consider and finalize a report by 12/6. The hope is that legislation will be drafted based on these recommendations and then go through the legislative process in 2023.
On Nov. 21, iDEA submitted written testimony to the Committee. iDEA’s written testimony focused on the importance of a competitive market, reasonable tax rates and appropriate supplier licensing. Here is a copy of the letter.
