Updated: Maryland Issues Proposed Rules on Promo Deductions

On June 30, the Maryland Lottery/Gaming Board issued proposed rules that would reduce the amount of promotional play deductions from 20% to 5%. This comes after the Commission withdrew last year’s proposed amendment that would have eliminated deductions entirely.
Based on info from the Commission, the amendment will be published in the MD Register on August 8th. Once published there will be a 30 day comment period.
iDEA has proactively reached out to the Commission to share our concerns with the proposed amendment. They have welcomed a meeting with iDEA, but have suggested that it should take place after the comment window closes.
